Visual performance training for athletes

G. Erickson

Abstract

Visual performance training for athletes has advanced greatly in the past few years by the introduction of new digital technology that can be used during natural training activities, perceptual-learning training programs, nutritional support for improved vision, and by virtual reality simulations that can re-create and augment sporting contexts to promote certain sports-specific visual-cognitive abilities. An overview of the older and newer instruments, nutrients and programs is presented with a summary of research supporting efficacy.
